04/16/2024 – Honour & Hospital Visit

There was a lot going on again today.

At 6:30 a.m. we picked up five children form the House of Happiness and drove to the hospital. The twins Valieth and Farajah were vaccinated and Sophia, Benaya and Veruni hat to be examined. Everything from iron deficiency to anaemia and infections, but fortunately no serious illnesses. Sophia was so brave! She sat there quietly and, unlike the other children, did not cry during the blood test.

At noon I went to see the children at school. As the President of Tanzania is coming to Arusha soon, all the politicians are very busy. Mr. Dennis, as the highest official of the social welfare department, was also present. There were speeches (I was once again very well prepared as I had not expected this at all) and finally the House of Happiness even received an honour. The reason for this was a private donation for tables, chairs and the construction of 12 toilets at the school – previously there were only 4 toilets for 640 children…

Finally, I was given a massai blanket with the following embroidery: “Welcome to Loovilukuny”. This gesture made me very happy.
